Workshops, conventions, competitions, and community, Dance Teachers United elevates dance professionals all throughout the south, as the kids who work with them benefit from the shared knowledge and collective passion they’re surrounded by. 

Kimberly Schafer

Kimberly Schafer is an award winning Director and Choreographer. She is so honored to work and collaborate with the brilliant Tony award winner Andre de Shields on Sophisticated Ladies at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center as part of Crossroads Theatre Company. She received her Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance from Oklahoma City University. Recently she was the Dance Assistant for Tommy Tune and Chita Rivera for their US tour “Chita and Tune: Just in Time”. Also she assisted Tommy Tune and Randy Skinner on the production of “Lady be Good” at City Center Encores. She continues to work with Tommy Tune on all of his solo shows such as Ford’s Theatre, a performance for President Obama. She was the Associate Choreographer/Dance Captain for Broadway Backwards at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and has been an associate choreographer for Broadway Bares 24-26. She is the creative director for “Masq” a benefit show for The LGBT Center in NY. She also spends time as a Director for Celebrity Cruise Lines. Some of her regional choreography credits include THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, ON THE TOWN, CRAZY FOR YOU, and many more. She teaches at Broadway Dance Center, CAP 21, Radio City Music Hall, and various studios around the New York area. Featured performing credits include the National Tour of 42nd Street and a commercial for Skineez Skinwear featured on a Times Square Billboard.

Amanda Yesso

Amanda Yesso, born and raised in New Orleans, has a long history of extensive training in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Tap. Growing up involved in the competition and convention circuit, she has won scholarships and awards such as Brian Friedman’s Intensive in New York, Edge studio in Los Angeles and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Amanda relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 where she furthered her dance training and began her professional career in industrials and commercial work. She has been a featured dancer at Harrah’s Casino in Thrillusion’s Rock/Magic Concert and Le Royal Rouge. She has had the honor of performing in the Superbowl Halftime Show with Beyonce, the Jonas Brothers Video: Americana, Grand Celebration cruise line, and recently returning from Singapore where she worked with America’s Got Talent magician, Rob Lake. Currently in New Orleans, you can find her passing along her passion for the art of dance to her students, who have won both regional and national competitions.

Emily Bourgeois

Emily (Schexnaydre) Bourgeois is a Musical Theatre teacher, Choreographer, and Vocal Coach for the National award-winning Musical Theatre STARS company at Center Stage Performing Arts Academy. She has a BFA in Musical Theatre from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in Cincinnati, Ohio. After college, she spent a few years performing regionally before transitioning into doing more choreography and teaching. Her favorite performance credits include: Elle Woods (Legally Blonde), Madame Thenardier (Les Miserables), and Ursula (The Little Mermaid). Some choreography credits include: Legally Blonde, High School Musical, Spelling Bee. She is a true lover of all things Broadway and believes that show-stopping dancers should also be very skilled actors!
